With the Squarell Trailer Identification system you will always be sure. The problem of connecting the wrong trailer without realizing it, has now been solved. Together with a Telematics solution it is now possible to locate the disconnected trailers.
The Squarell Trailer Identification solution comprises of two different devices: The Trailer-ID (Transmitter) and the ID-Reader (Receiver). The Trailer equipped with Trailer-ID sends its unique ID to the Tractor unit. The ID reader receives the ID and puts it on the CANbus. Multi trailers is supported.
How does it work?
When the brake pedal is depressed causing the brake lights to come, the Trailer-ID is charged. When you release the brake pedal, the Trailer-ID has enough energy to send the message over the Brake light wire towards the Tractor unit.
The message contains a device number, a unique ID and a checksum to confirm the message.
After every brake application the ID of the Trailer is put on the CANbus of the Tractor unit. The Trailer status bit is set to 1. After disconnecting the Trailer, the trailer ID is put on the CANbus with status bit is set to 0. the ID-Reader will no longer receive a Trailer ID and is also set to 0. Pairing Trailer-ID and ID-Reader goes automatically.
The ID-reader is equipped with a status LED for easy installation.
Trailer-ID
This small device (2x2x1 cm) has to be installed inside the left brake light unit of the Trailer. Installation is easy: just open the light unit and connect the two AMP connectors to the brake light.
ID-Reader
Install the ID-Reader inside the Tractor unit. The ID-Reader is available in two versions to connect to Power and FMS/CANbus: with a 4-pole Squarell CAN connector or with flying leads. The yellow “Sense” wire has to be connected to the brake lights wire.
